Summary of the role
The University of Exeter is home to a range of leading programs focused on Engineering and Entrepreneurship. The Department of Engineering has benefitted from a donation of £1.2 million from the noted philanthropist Adam Boyden to further develop entrepreneurial excellence in Engineering over the next four years and help transform Exeter into a global center of education and research in the field. The University is seeking to make two appointments in Engineering (described in more detail in the Job description), and welcomes applications which build on Exeter’s growing education and research strengths in this area.

The two positions will be based in the Department of Engineering, led by Professor Ion Sucala (www.exeter.ac.uk/engineering), which currently has 90 academic staff across our Exeter (Streatham & Science Park) and Cornwall (Penryn) campuses . Academics in Streatham have particular expertise in simulation, optimization and machine learning, water systems engineering, computational analysis, nano-engineering, vibration engineering, materials and manufacturing and biomedical engineering. Our work in Penryn is mainly focused on renewable energy engineering.

For a Lecturer level appointment post you will have:

  • A PhD or equivalent in Engineering or other relevant subject and have an independent, internationally-recognized research program in a relevant active field of research
  • A track record in attracting funding for research;
  • A track record of excellent publications in recognized journals;
  • Enthusiasm and ability to teach modules in Engineering Management and Entrepreneurship.
