Editor in Chief job with THE MEDICAL JOURNAL OF AUSTRALIA

the Medical Journal of Australia (MJA) currently seeks a dynamic leader as its new Editor-in-Chief.

the MJA ranks in the top 20 peer reviewed general medical journals in the world and is Australia’s flagship journal for health and medical research, with editorial independence, commentary and themed supplements.

For over 100 years the MJA has been a vital academic resource for clinicians, scientists, health care professionals, policymakers, patients, and the public. With a focus on relevance, reach and impact, it has a rich history of contributing to clinical health care delivery and health policy discussions through original clinical research, commentaries, analyzes and reviews, news, practice updates, and editorials.

Building on the legacy of Professor Nick Talley, who stands down from the role in 2023, you will be a highly regarded clinical investigator with strong leadership skills, a commercial mindset and a passion for the role of the MJA to support the medical profession.

As a leader, you inspire your teams to work collaboratively, fostering a culture of trust, respect, communication and innovation. You are skilled in stakeholder engagement and acting on priorities to achieve impact. You have a track record of successfully evaluating scientific evidence for the purposes of a peer-review process in clinical research and have editorial and leadership experience. You are familiar with new and evolving digital formats for knowledge transfer, as well as academic and/or scientific environments. You are a business savvy leader who is motivated to evolve and grow the MJA, and who is comfortable thinking out of the box. You are recognized and applauded for your ability to stimulate and encourage healthy debate, while also inspiring a broad and diverse group of stakeholders around a shared and compelling vision, with the goal of advancing change in health.

The Australasian Medical Publishing Company Pty Ltd (AMPCo), a subsidiary of the Australian Medical Association, publishes the Medical Journal of Australia (MJA) and related digital products. Candidates may be located across Australia or internationally.
