Hope College celebrates large class of future teachers

HOLLAND — Hope College held a celebration for a large class of graduates from its education department Tuesday, coinciding with national Teacher Appreciation Day.

The class of 73 graduates presented their teaching portfolios in classrooms around campus before gathering in Maas Auditorium for award presentations and a social.

Education Professor Susan Brondyk congratulated the graduates on their achievement and hard work in going through the program.

“I am so excited for you and I know how hard you have worked,” she said. “We are so excited for you as a department. Welcome to the greatest profession in the world.”

Annie Bruebach was recognized for receiving a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to teach in Bulgaria. Abigail Hamilton was awarded the Outstanding Student Teacher Award for her work at Black River High School this year.
