About The Faculty Of Law And Business:

The Faculty of Law and Business comprises two schools, the Peter Faber Business School and the Thomas More Law School. The faculty provides both undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs across a range of business disciplines and law and is staffed by a dedicated, nationally and internationally recognized team of academics whose teaching is supported by their active involvement in relevant industries, professional industries, professional associations or links to eminent international business and law schools, as well as their research. Teaching staff have an established research record with a commitment to conducting research in areas aligned with the broad values ​​of the University mission as well as innovative industry led projects. About the Peter Faber Business School:

Named after St Peter Faber SJ, the school’s mission is to develop reflective business leaders and independent learners who are global in their outlook, ethical in their actions and practical in the application of their professional skills. Research is a strategic priority for the school and academic staff are expected to publish their scholarly works regularly in journals rated ‘A’ or ‘A*’ by the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC). PFBS staff have published articles in such journals as The Leadership Quarterly, Academy of Management Review, Economic Behavior and Organisation, Human Factors in Computing Systems, European Journal of Marketing and similar top-tier outlets. All programs are underpinned by the principles of Catholic Social Teaching and the UN Principles of Responsible Management Education. All undergraduate students are required to undertake a unit in community engagement which involves them working directly with not for profit and community organizations. The school’s major undergraduate degree is the Bachelor of Commerce which offers majors in accounting, human resource management, management and marketing.

About the role:

As the Lecturer (Academic Level B) you will be a crucial contributor to the design and delivery of programs, high quality research and/or industry engagement and support of the School and students via specified academic administration and advisory roles.

As the Senior Lecturer (Academic Level C) you will play a key academic role with a leadership dimension. You will be expected to contribute to the academic governance of the School and programs within the School in a range of roles such as National Lecturer in Charge, Course Coordinator and Course Advisor.

More specifically the role details:

  • Contribute (lecturer) or lead (senior lecturer) curriculum development and teaching of HRM and management units at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Engage in innovative learning and teaching practices including online learning and alternative teaching methods.
  • Contribute to the research intensification through publications in high quality research outlets and attraction of research and/or industry funding.
  • A teaching and research focus within the management, organizational behavior or human resource management discipline with a preference for HR engaged research.
  • Contribute to supervision (lecturer) or supervise (senior lecturer) postgraduate research students as appropriate.
  • Maintain engagement with external stakeholders relevant to work integrated learning program.

You will need to have:

  • A doctorate or substantial progress towards the attainment of a doctoral degree (or equivalent) in HRM, management or a relevant cognate discipline. Applicants with substantial industry experience and a masters qualification may be considered on the basis of completing a doctoral qualification as part of the probation process. Current membership of the AHRI, IM&L or equivalent professional association.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the mission of the university and capacity to embed the mission into disciplinary activities with a focus on teaching and research.
  • Evidence of high-quality innovative teaching that builds on reflective practice and the nexus between teaching and research across delivery modes eg face to face, online and/or blended in management, human resource management and/or organizational behaviour.
  • An emerging coherent program of quality research in management, human resource management and/or organizational behavior with a focus on high quality research publications in journals ranked as A or A* by the Australia Business Deans Council and/or commercial research with industry impact.
  • Experience in, or capacity to develop skills in curriculum design and development undergraduate and postgraduate courses across multiple delivery modes.
  • A doctorate in HRM, management or a relevant cognate discipline. Current membership of the AHRI, IM&L or equivalent professional association.
  • An understanding of, and commitment to, the mission of the university and capacity to embed the mission into disciplinary activities with a focus on teaching and research.
  • Evidence of high-quality innovative teaching that builds on reflective practice and the nexus between teaching and research across delivery modes eg face to face, online and/or blended in management, human resource management and/or organizational behaviour
  • A coherent program of quality research in management, human resource management and/or organizational behavior with a focus on high quality research publications in journals ranked as A or A* by the Australia Business Deans Council and/or commercial research with industry impact.
  • Experience in curriculum design and development undergraduate and postgraduate courses across multiple delivery modes.
  • contribution to course development and/or course reviews Knowledge – knowledge of accreditation processes either at a disciplinary/professional level or for international accreditation such as AACSB or EFMD.
  • experience in the leadership and management of academic staff in either teaching or research teams.

Total remuneration valued to $154,846 – $168,247 total rem (pro rata) pa, including salary component $130,847 – $142,171 (pro rata) pa (Academic Level C), employer contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading, OR $123,584 total rem – $145,796 total rem pa , including salary component $104,430 – $123,298 pa (Academic Level B). The level of appointment will be determined based on the level of experience, capability and research standing of the successful candidate.
