School Board to conduct final superintendent interviews this week – Brainerd Dispatch

BRAINERD — Community members will get a chance to meet with the top candidates for Brainerd Public Schools superintendent this week.

The three candidates will undergo their final interviews in front of the School Board Tuesday-Thursday, April 12-14, after which board members will decide to whom they will offer the job.

Before interviewing each day, the candidates will take part in a community session at 4:45 pm in the boardroom at the Washington Educational Services Building.

Heidi Hahn will be first up Tuesday, followed by Eric Schneider on Wednesday and Karsten Anderson on Thursday.

Hahn is the assistant superintendent in Brainerd, where she served in various capacities for 26 years. Before taking over as assistant superintendent in 2018, Hahn worked as director and assistant director of special education at the Paul Bunyan Educational Cooperative. She was also a special education teacher in the district and school mental health professional at Northern Pines Mental Health.

Schneider is the chief academic officer for Chicago-based company EdIncites and lives in Chanhassen. He served in various positions in both public and private educational settings, including chief officer of partner strategies for Education Research and Development Institute; president/co-founder of InnovateK12; associate superintendent in Minnetonka; director of curriculum and instruction at Osseo; high school principal in Napa Valley, California; and assistant principal, high school coordinator and high school English teacher in Minneapolis.

Anderson

Anderson is the superintendent of Red Wing Public Schools, a position he took in 2011. He previously served as superintendent in Watertown-Mayer and Clinton-Graceville-Beardley, as well as high school principal at St. Clair Public Schools and a math and computer science teacher at Red Lake Falls Public Schools.

The School Board is expected to make a decision on their candidate of choice after the last interview Thursday.

Heidi Hahn

Tuesday, April 12: Community session at 4:45 pm in boardroom at Washington Educational Services Building, dinner with School Board at 6:15 pm at The Local 218, interview with School Board at 7:30 pm in boardroom at Washington.

Eric Schneider

Wednesday, April 13: Community session at 4:45 pm in boardroom at Washington, dinner with School Board at 6:15 pm at El Tequila, interview with School Board at 7:30 pm in boardroom at Washington.

Karsten Anderson

Thursday, April 14: Community session at 4:45 pm in boardroom at Washington, dinner with School Board at 6:15 pm at Black Bear Restaurant, interview with School Board at 7:30 pm in boardroom at Washington.

All events with the candidates on all three days are open to the public.
